ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how brain activity, measured by a technique called EEG (electroencephalogram), can help doctors understand the chances of recovery for patients in a coma due to severe brain injuries. The goal is to find a reliable and easy way to assess levels of consciousness in these patients over time. By looking at patterns in the brain’s electrical activity, researchers hope to gain valuable insights into how and when a patient might regain awareness.
To participate in this study, individuals must be at least 18 years old and have been in a coma for more than 28 days because of a closed traumatic brain injury. They need to have a legal representative who can provide consent for them to join. However, patients with unstable vital signs, a history of severe mental illnesses, uncontrolled epilepsy, or who are pregnant cannot participate. The study is still in the planning phase and has not yet started recruiting participants, but it holds the promise of improving how doctors can predict recovery outcomes for patients in similar situations.
