ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how ultrasound images of the heart, lungs, and diaphragm can help doctors predict whether patients will successfully stop using a ventilator. After being on a ventilator for at least 48 hours following surgery, some patients may experience difficulties when trying to breathe on their own, which can affect their recovery. The study will compare patients who successfully stop using the ventilator with those who do not, using ultrasound to gather important information about their heart, lungs, and diaphragm.
To participate in this trial, patients need to be at least 18 years old and have been on a ventilator for at least two days after surgery. However, those with certain conditions, such as progressive muscle diseases or serious heart and lung problems, will not be eligible. Participants will undergo ultrasound examinations, and their results will help researchers develop a model that could improve how doctors assess a patient's ability to breathe independently. This trial is currently looking for volunteers to join in and contribute to this important research.
