ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how two types of fluids, crystalloids (a type of saltwater solution) and albumin (a special protein solution), are used to help hydrate patients during heart surgery. Hydration is important for all heart surgery patients, but doctors don’t always agree on the best way to provide it. Since albumin is both expensive and not always available, understanding how and when it should be used compared to crystalloids is crucial. The researchers want to see how these different hydration methods affect the patients’ recovery and overall health after surgery.
To participate in this study, you must be an adult aged 18 or older and undergoing heart surgery that involves a heart-lung machine (called cardiopulmonary bypass) or surgery that doesn’t use this machine. There are no specific exclusions for this trial, so many heart surgery patients are welcome to join. If you take part, you will help researchers gather important information that could improve the care of future heart surgery patients.
