ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the effects of probiotics—beneficial bacteria that can help improve gut health—when given alongside standard treatments for severe pneumonia in children. The goal is to see if adding probiotics can help reduce the time kids spend in the hospital and improve their symptoms, such as fever, rapid breathing, and cough.

Eligible participants for this trial are children aged between 2 months and 24 months who are experiencing severe pneumonia. Some children, however, cannot participate. For example, those with very severe pneumonia, severe malnutrition, other infections, or certain chronic health issues are excluded. If your child is eligible and joins the trial, they will receive standard care for pneumonia along with probiotics to see if this combination helps them recover more quickly. The trial is currently recruiting participants, and it’s an opportunity to contribute to important research that could benefit other children facing similar health challenges.
