ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a method to help induce labor in first-time pregnant women. Researchers want to find out if drinking castor oil mixed with orange juice, along with a special balloon catheter placed in the cervix, can help speed up the time from when labor is induced to when the baby is born. They will compare this approach to using a different type of catheter without the castor oil. The main questions are whether the castor oil makes a difference in how long it takes to deliver the baby, if it affects the health of the mother or baby, and if the mothers experience any side effects from taking the castor oil.
To participate in this study, women need to be at least 18 years old, be pregnant for more than 37 weeks, and have a healthy single baby in the head-down position. They cannot have had a previous cesarean delivery, certain medical conditions, or specific complications with their pregnancy. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the group that receives the castor oil and balloon catheter or the control group that only gets the catheter. This trial is currently looking for volunteers, and those who join will help researchers learn more about effective ways to induce labor.
