ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is exploring how effective community engagement is in helping pregnant women understand important health information. Specifically, it focuses on teaching women about "Obstetric Danger Signs," which are warning signs during pregnancy that could indicate a serious problem. It also aims to help women prepare for childbirth and know what to do in case of complications. The study will involve 120 pregnant women in their first or second trimester from Bahi, Dodoma, who will be divided into two groups. One group will receive special sessions led by trained community members called M-MAMA Champions, while the other group will not receive any additional support.

Eligible participants are women who are currently pregnant and in their first or second trimester, meaning they are up to 28 weeks along. During the sessions, small groups of five women will meet every two weeks for two hours to discuss these important topics with the guidance of the M-MAMA Champion. They will use an approved brochure to help with their discussions. The goal is to see if this community approach helps improve the women’s understanding and readiness for childbirth compared to standard information methods. If you’re interested in joining or learning more, keep an eye out for recruitment updates!
