ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called the "Brain Heart InterActioNs in Cardiac Arrest" study, is part of a larger research project aimed at understanding how the heart and brain interact after a patient has experienced a cardiac arrest. The study focuses on patients who are in a coma after being resuscitated from cardiac arrest, with the goal of finding new ways to predict their recovery. Researchers believe that by examining the connections between brain and heart activity, they can better understand the effects of brain injury caused by lack of oxygen and potentially identify new signs that indicate how well a patient might recover.
To participate in this study, individuals must be admitted to an intensive care unit after a cardiac arrest and be in a coma, meaning they have a low level of consciousness. They should have undergone specific tests that measure brain and heart activity as part of their routine care. However, patients who are not expected to survive or who have certain medical conditions may not be eligible. Participants will have their brain and heart activity monitored to help researchers learn more about how these two organs work together during recovery. This study is currently recruiting and aims to gather valuable information that could improve care for future patients who experience similar situations.
