ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how different methods of providing nutrition affect the psychological well-being and experiences of patients who have had an ischemic stroke, which is a type of stroke caused by blocked blood flow to the brain. In this study, researchers will compare two feeding methods: one involves using a tube placed in the mouth and throat (Intermittent Oro-esophageal Tube), and the other uses a tube that goes through the nose into the stomach (Nasogastric Tube). Both groups will receive standard rehabilitation treatment, and the goal is to see which method helps patients feel better socially and emotionally.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be over 18 years old and have been diagnosed with ischemic stroke. They must also have difficulty swallowing, confirmed by a special test, but should be alert and have stable vital signs. Some people, like those with certain other health conditions or those who are pregnant or nursing, will not be able to participate. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to provide valuable insights into how different nutrition delivery methods can impact stroke recovery.
