ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the use of Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) in hospitalized patients who have high blood sugar levels, known as hyperglycemia. The goal is to see how well CGM works in both general medical patients and those in the cardiovascular intensive care unit (ICU). Researchers aim to find out if this method is accurate and practical for managing glucose levels in these settings.
To participate in the trial, you must be at least 18 years old and admitted to the hospital, either for general medical care or for heart surgery. You should be receiving blood sugar management through a specific method called Glucommander or regular finger-prick blood tests. However, patients who are under 18, pregnant, in prison, unable to communicate in English, have an insulin pump already in place, or have an active skin infection where the monitor would be placed cannot join the study. If you take part, you will help researchers understand how CGM can improve blood sugar management for patients in the hospital, which could lead to better care in the future.
