ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Parenting Support for Justice Involved Families," is focused on helping parents who have recently been released from prison to improve their parenting skills and overall well-being. The study aims to develop a support program that not only benefits these parents but also helps their children thrive. The program will be delivered by trained re-entry navigators—individuals who have gone through similar experiences and can relate to the challenges these families face. They will be equipped to provide effective parenting advice and support, making it easier for parents to access the help they need.
To participate in this trial, you must be a parent of a child aged 2 to 12 years and have a history of incarceration. You should also be comfortable communicating in English and not have any cognitive disabilities that would affect your ability to take part in the assessments. If you join the study, you can expect to engage in focus groups to share your parenting needs, help adapt the parenting program, and receive support from trained navigators. The goal is to evaluate how well this program works in improving parenting and the well-being of both parents and children. If the results are encouraging, the researchers plan to seek further funding for a larger study.
