ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring a new way to help prevent HIV in people who use drugs and visit the emergency department (ED). The researchers want to see if a mobile health app, which offers support and information about HIV prevention, is acceptable and helpful for those at risk. Participants will use the app while waiting in the ED and continue to use it at home for three months. They will also answer some questions about their health and behaviors at the start of the study and again at 30, 60, and 90 days later.
To participate, individuals need to be at least 18 years old and have engaged in certain behaviors that put them at risk for HIV in the past month, such as having condomless sex or sharing needles. They should also own a smartphone and be comfortable reading and understanding English. However, if someone has a serious medical or mental health issue that could interfere with the study, or if they are in the ED for a psychiatric reason, they would not be eligible. This trial is not yet recruiting participants but aims to gather important information that could lead to better HIV prevention strategies in the future.
