ClinConnect Summary

The "Splenic Embolisation Decisions" trial is studying how to best treat injuries to the spleen when they occur due to trauma. When someone gets hurt and their spleen starts bleeding, doctors can either perform a major surgery or use a smaller, less invasive technique that involves accessing a blood vessel through a tiny hole in the groin. This trial aims to find out which types of spleen injuries are best treated with these different methods and to understand why sometimes the smaller technique isn’t used. Researchers will analyze a large set of data from patients who experienced spleen injuries between 2016 and 2020 to help answer these important questions.

To be eligible for this trial, participants must have had a traumatic spleen injury during that time frame and have data available for review. Unfortunately, if the necessary imaging data isn't available, they won't be able to take part in the study. While the trial is not yet recruiting participants, it aims to gather insights that could lead to better treatment options for patients with spleen injuries in the future. If you or a loved one has experienced a spleen injury during the specified years, this study could potentially pave the way for improved care.
