Collapsibility Of Upper Airways Muscle Responsiveness

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a new and simpler way to measure how the upper airway behaves in people with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). OSA is a condition where the airway becomes blocked during sleep, leading to breathing difficulties. The researchers want to understand how easily the airway collapses and how responsive the muscles controlling the airway are, even when a person is awake. This information could help improve treatments for OSA.

To participate in this trial, individuals must be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have been diagnosed with moderate to severe OSA, as shown by a home sleep test. However, people currently receiving treatment for OSA, those with unstable respiratory issues, or those on oxygen therapy are not eligible to join. Participants will undergo tests to assess their airway function, and the trial is currently looking for volunteers. If you or someone you know fits the criteria, this could be an important opportunity to contribute to research aimed at better understanding and treating OSA.
