ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether combining castor oil with a special balloon catheter can help speed up labor for women who have given birth before (multiparous women). The researchers want to find out if drinking a mixture of castor oil and orange juice, followed by the insertion of a balloon catheter, can reduce the time from when labor is induced to when the baby is born. They will also look at whether this combination affects the health of the mother and baby during childbirth, and if the mothers can tolerate the castor oil.
To participate in this study, women must be over 18 years old, at least 37 weeks pregnant with a single baby, and have a cervix that is not too ripe (measured by something called a Bishop score). However, women with certain conditions, like a history of cesarean delivery or allergies to castor oil, cannot participate. Those who join the trial will be randomly assigned to either drink the castor oil mixture or not before receiving the balloon catheter, allowing them to see how this method works for labor induction.
