ClinConnect Summary
The Infant-Maternal Partnership and Cognitive Training Study is investigating how a special program can help preterm infants develop better communication skills. The study will involve caregivers using finger puppets to engage with their babies, along with routine developmental care that includes a program called Bookworm. Researchers want to see if this interactive approach will improve the babies' development scores by the time they reach 12 months of age.
To be eligible for this study, infants must have been born at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) before 34 weeks of pregnancy and currently be between 32 to 39 weeks of corrected age. They should also not be on sedatives or invasive breathing support, and they must not have any major health issues or be part of another similar study. If chosen to participate, caregivers can expect to take part in fun, engaging activities with their babies designed to boost their development while receiving support and guidance throughout the process.
