ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called the Reducing Obesity Using Social Ties Program, is looking at how having friends, family members, or co-workers join you in a weight loss program can help you lose more weight. The study involves participants who are Black or Hispanic adults aged 18 and older with a body mass index (BMI) over 30, which indicates obesity. To be eligible, you must be willing to use a food tracking app on your phone or computer and you need to have at least one adult friend or family member who can also participate.
If you decide to join this trial, you and your chosen support person will take part in a lifestyle intervention designed to promote weight loss. Throughout the study, you’ll receive guidance and support to help you make healthier choices. It’s important to note that this program is not for those currently on weight-loss medications, planning surgery for weight loss, or experiencing serious health issues that limit physical activity. The trial is currently recruiting participants, so if you meet the criteria and are interested, you could be part of this exciting research aimed at tackling obesity.
