ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a specific blood marker called presepsin can help doctors manage infections and inflammation in patients undergoing surgery for conditions related to the thoracic aorta, such as aortic aneurysms and dissections. Researchers believe that measuring presepsin levels can provide important information about the risk of infection after surgery, helping to improve patient care and outcomes.
To be eligible for this trial, participants should be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have a diagnosed thoracic aorta aneurysm or dissection. Unfortunately, individuals with certain blood sample issues, like hemolysis (when blood cells break down), cannot participate. If you join the trial, you'll have your blood tested to measure presepsin levels, and this information will be used to guide your treatment during the recovery process. Overall, this study aims to enhance our understanding of how to better protect patients from infections after heart-related surgeries.
