ClinConnect Summary
This trial is testing whether 12 weeks of capoeira training can improve both physical performance and certain psychological aspects in adults who are not regularly active. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a capoeira training group or a control group that does lighter capoeira movements. Each group will have two 60-minute sessions per week, and assessments will take place at the start and after 12 weeks. The researchers will look at changes in fitness (aerobic and anaerobic capacity, leg strength, and power), balance and coordination, and also scales that measure emotional intelligence, motivation for sport, and overall quality of life.
If you’re considering joining, eligibility includes adults aged 18–59 who are not currently in a regular exercise program, do not smoke, do not have major heart or lung diseases, and do not have musculoskeletal problems that would stop them from exercising. They should be able to attend most of the sessions (at least about 80%). The study is being conducted in Petrolina, Brazil, at the Federal University of the São Francisco, and is run in a randomized, blinded way to reduce bias. About 42 participants are planned. Results are not yet available.
