ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how hand grip strength, lung function tests, and a frailty score relate to recovery after surgery for lung cancer. It will involve 100 patients over the age of 40 who are scheduled for surgery at a specific hospital starting April 2024. Researchers want to see if these measures can help predict how long patients will need to stay in the intensive care unit, how long their hospital stay will be, and if they experience any complications after surgery.
To participate, you need to be over 40 and scheduled for lung cancer surgery. Before the surgery, the study will record your age, weight, health conditions, and perform some tests to measure your hand strength and lung function. After the surgery, the researchers will keep track of your recovery and will check in with you 90 days later to see how you’re doing. This study aims to better understand how these preoperative factors can affect recovery and help improve care for patients undergoing lung surgery.
