ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying new ways to prevent falls in hospitals, which is an important issue since many patients fall while they are being treated. Each year, around 700,000 to 1 million patients fall in U.S. hospitals, and about one-third of those falls can lead to injuries. This study will compare different methods of fall prevention, while still providing the usual care. Some hospital units will use a special alert system for nurses based on patient data, others will use cameras to help monitor patients, and some will use both approaches together.
If you are an adult patient admitted to one of the study units, you may be eligible to participate. There are no specific exclusions for this trial, so most adult patients will qualify. As a participant, you can expect that the staff will continue to provide regular fall prevention care, while also trying out one of the new strategies to see if it helps reduce falls and injuries. This research is important as it aims to improve patient safety and could help hospitals find better ways to keep patients safe during their stay.
