ClinConnect Summary
The WISHES Study is a clinical trial designed to compare two different ways of cleaning a surgical wound after a cesarean section. The researchers want to find out if using a special solution called Irrisept, which contains a small amount of Chlorhexidine (an antibacterial agent), is better for healing than the standard treatment of using normal saline (saltwater). This study is important because it aims to improve recovery for women who have had a cesarean delivery and may be at risk for infections.
To participate in this study, you need to be a woman aged 18 or older who is planning to have a cesarean section at 37 weeks of pregnancy or later. You should also have a follow-up appointment scheduled with the doctors at Loma Linda University after the surgery and have at least one medical condition, like obesity or diabetes, that could affect healing. If you join the trial, you will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two cleaning solutions after your surgery. The goal is to see which method helps you heal better and reduces the risk of complications.
