ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new method to help diagnose gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) more accurately using a technology called mucosal impedance measurement. This device can assess changes in the esophagus related to chronic reflux, potentially improving the diagnosis for patients who have symptoms of GERD but show normal results during standard tests. The goal is to see how well this new device works compared to existing methods, especially in patients who haven’t responded well to typical treatments like proton pump inhibitors.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be over 18 years old and have symptoms of GERD that haven’t improved after at least 8 weeks of treatment. They should also have had an upper endoscopy that didn’t show any signs of damage to the esophagus. Participants will undergo a screening period and then have the mucosal impedance measurement along with other standard tests during an endoscopy. It’s important to note that certain conditions, such as pregnancy or specific esophageal disorders, may exclude someone from joining the study. This trial is being conducted at a hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and aims to provide better diagnostic tools for GERD.
