ClinConnect Summary
The ASk Questions in GYnecologic Oncology (ASQ-GYO) clinical trial is studying a special tool called the ASQ-GYO question prompt list. This tool is designed to help patients with gynecologic cancers—like ovarian, endometrial, cervical, vulvar, and vaginal cancer, as well as a condition called Gestational Trophoblastic Disease—feel more confident and informed during their first visits with a gynecologic oncologist. The trial will compare how well this tool works in helping patients understand their situation, reduce anxiety, build trust with their doctors, and gain knowledge about their health, compared to usual care without this tool.
To participate in the trial, you need to be at least 18 years old, be able to understand English, and have a biopsy confirming a gynecologic cancer diagnosis or have concerning test results indicating a possible cancer diagnosis without having seen a gynecologic oncologist yet. Unfortunately, if you only have a diagnosis that shows early changes (called dysplasia) or if your tests suggest a non-cancer issue, you won't be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to use the question prompt list during your visit, which may help you ask important questions and feel more at ease while discussing your health with your doctor. The trial is currently recruiting participants, and everyone's input can help improve care for future patients.
