ClinConnect Summary

The Washington University Participant Engagement and Cancer Genomic Sequencing Center (WU-PE-CGS) is a clinical trial designed to understand how involving cancer patients and survivors in research can improve their health and satisfaction. This study focuses on patients with specific types of cancer—cholangiocarcinoma, multiple myeloma, and early onset colon or rectal cancer. Participants will have the opportunity to choose the types of genetic information they want to receive about their cancer, and researchers will look at how this choice affects their understanding, expectations, and overall experience.

To be eligible for this trial, you need to be at least 18 years old and diagnosed with one of the mentioned cancers. For those with multiple myeloma, you must be African-American, and for colon or rectal cancer, you must be African-American and diagnosed before the age of 65. Throughout the study, participants will be asked to provide feedback on their knowledge and feelings about the genetic results they receive. This trial is currently recruiting, and it aims to create a better understanding of how patient engagement can lead to improved outcomes in cancer care.
