ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called the HiPE KF study, is looking into the effects of a high protein egg white pudding on people with kidney failure who are on dialysis. The main goal is to see if this egg white pudding can help improve protein levels in the blood and if it’s a good option compared to other nutritional drinks like Ensure. Over 12 weeks, participants will receive either the egg white pudding or Ensure after their dialysis sessions three times a week. The study will also check how this pudding affects overall health and strength in these patients.
To be eligible for the trial, participants need to be at least 18 years old, have been on dialysis for more than three months, and have a specific protein level in their blood (less than 35 g/L). However, individuals with allergies to eggs, certain health conditions like cancer or bowel diseases, or those who are pregnant cannot participate. If you or someone you know is interested in joining this study, please ensure they meet these criteria and are willing to provide consent. This trial has not started recruiting participants yet, but it could be an important step in finding better nutritional options for people with kidney failure.
