ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how people who have had a stroke experience difficulties with fine motor skills, which are the small movements we use for tasks like buttoning a shirt or picking up small objects. The researchers want to understand how a special type of feedback called vibrotactile sensory feedback (think of it as gentle vibrations) can help improve these skills in stroke patients. To do this, they will compare chronic stroke patients with healthy young adults and older adults who are similar in age and gender to the stroke patients.
To participate, stroke patients need to be at least 18 years old, have had their first stroke more than six months ago, and have some weakness in their arm. Healthy participants must be between 18 and 40 years old or match the age and gender of the stroke patients. Participants will take tests to measure their motor skills and sensitivity, and they will use a device that provides sensory feedback to assess their fine motor abilities. Additionally, those who are interested can take part in a study that looks at how this feedback might help the brain become more active in controlling movements. It's important for potential participants to know that they cannot join if they have certain medical conditions, such as epilepsy or metal implants.
