ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating a new method for creating a temporary ileostomy (an opening in the abdomen to allow waste to exit the body) during laparoscopic surgery for rectal conditions. The researchers want to find out if stitching together certain layers of tissue, known as the peritoneum and anterior rectus sheath, can make this approach safer and help prevent complications like leaks from the surgical connections.
The trial is currently looking for participants aged 65 to 75 who are undergoing laparoscopic rectal surgery and require a preventive ileostomy. However, individuals who need an ileostomy because of a previous leak are not eligible to join. If you participate in this study, you can expect to follow specific procedures closely monitored by medical professionals to ensure your safety throughout the process. This trial aims to improve surgical techniques and outcomes for patients undergoing similar procedures in the future.
