Falls Prevention Diabetes Mellitus Type2 Elderly Patient

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how to prevent falls in older adults who have type 2 diabetes. Falls can be a serious problem for elderly people, especially those with diabetes, and this research aims to understand the risk factors and find effective prevention strategies. Participants in the study will be divided into two groups: one group will receive special training through the Otago Training Program to help reduce their risk of falling, while the other group will continue with standard care for their diabetes. The main goal is to see how many falls occur in each group after six months and to assess their physical performance.

To be eligible for this trial, participants must be between 60 and 80 years old, have a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes, and have specific blood sugar levels. They also need to be at moderate or high risk of falling. However, some individuals may not qualify if they have certain health issues, such as severe heart problems or conditions that affect their ability to move or think clearly. Those who join the study can expect to participate in training sessions and assessments over the course of the six months, helping to contribute to important research that could improve safety for older adults with diabetes.
