ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how different types of anesthesia—intravenous (through an IV) and inhalation gas (breathing in gas)—affect the brain's barrier and the risk of memory problems after surgery in elderly patients. The researchers want to find out if one type of anesthesia is better than the other at keeping the brain healthy and reducing the chances of cognitive issues after surgery.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 60 years old and scheduled for surgery that requires general anesthesia for more than two hours. Some conditions, like a history of dementia or certain neurological disorders, may prevent you from joining the trial. If you take part, you will receive one of the two types of anesthesia, and the team will monitor your recovery and cognitive function afterward. This trial is currently looking for volunteers, and it aims to provide important insights into how anesthesia affects older patients.
