ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how severe period pain, known as dysmenorrhea, in young women might be connected to the development of chronic pain later in life. Researchers want to see if the changes in the body that adult women experience with period pain are also present in adolescents who are just starting to have periods. This information could help doctors understand how quickly these changes happen and how period pain might lead to other types of pain, which could help in creating ways to prevent it.

The trial is looking for females aged 11 to 20 who have been having periods for at least a year and experience either moderate to severe period pain or no pain at all. Participants must be fluent in English and not currently using hormonal birth control. Those with a history of other chronic pain conditions or certain medical issues, such as pregnancy or previous cancer, may not be eligible. If you or your child participate, you can expect to help researchers learn more about dysmenorrhea and its effects, contributing to better understanding and care for future patients.
