ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different rehabilitation programs can help patients recover after having a total hip replacement surgery using a method called the direct anterior approach (DAA). This surgical technique has gained popularity because it can preserve muscles, involves a smaller incision, and generally leads to fewer complications. The trial aims to find out how well patients recover their hip function, muscle strength, balance, and walking ability after surgery. Researchers will compare two groups: one group will receive standard post-operative care, while the other will follow a new, faster rehabilitation program.
To participate in this study, patients should be scheduled for a total hip replacement due to conditions like osteoarthritis or avascular necrosis (a condition where the bone tissue dies due to lack of blood supply). However, individuals who have had recent surgeries on their legs, have certain diseases affecting their ability to walk, or cannot walk independently for at least 10 meters before surgery are not eligible. Throughout the study, participants will be assessed at various points after their surgery to see how their recovery progresses, which will help improve future rehabilitation plans for hip replacement patients.
