Hip Fracture Intertrochanteric Elderly Screw

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how different methods of fixing unstable hip fractures affect recovery. Specifically, it compares two techniques used during surgery: one that includes a special locking screw (called distal locking) and one that does not. The goal is to see which method leads to better outcomes for patients with these types of fractures.

To participate in this trial, you must be over 50 years old and have an unstable intertrochanteric hip fracture, which is a specific type of break near the hip. You also need to have surgery within 48 hours of being admitted to the hospital. Unfortunately, if you have other fractures or a non-acute fracture (one that's not recent), you won't be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to receive one of the two surgical techniques and will be monitored to see how well you recover. This information can help improve treatment options for future patients with similar injuries.
