ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at a new way to help reduce pain after a tonsillectomy, which is a common surgery to remove the tonsils. The study will compare a specific type of pain relief method called the suprazygomatic maxillary nerve block to traditional pain medications like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and opioids. The goal is to see if this new method can help children feel less pain after surgery and shorten their hospital stay.

To be eligible for this study, children between the ages of 3 and 10 who are scheduled for tonsillectomy (with or without adenoid removal) may participate, as long as they are generally healthy. However, certain children may not be able to join, such as those with specific health conditions, allergies to the study medications, or those on certain medications. Participants can expect to receive the nerve block before their surgery, and researchers will monitor their recovery to gather important information about pain levels and recovery times. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to improve the comfort and care of children undergoing tonsillectomy.
