ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a special exercise program called the SAFE program, designed to help prevent falls in older adults who are frail or pre-frail. The trial will involve 100 participants, who will be randomly assigned to either follow the SAFE exercise program or not. After 12 weeks, those in the exercise group will be encouraged to keep doing the exercises, while those in the control group will have the chance to join the SAFE program as well. Researchers will follow up with everyone by phone three months later to see if they are still practicing the exercises.
To participate, you need to be considered frail or pre-frail based on certain health criteria. However, there are some reasons that might prevent you from joining, such as recent smoking, a diagnosis of dementia, or certain health issues like heart disease. If you qualify and decide to take part, you can expect to engage in a personalized exercise program that aims to improve your strength and balance, potentially reducing your risk of falls. This study not only seeks to help participants during the trial but also provides ongoing support and resources after the program ends.
