ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the possible link between exposure to a pesticide called chlordecone and the development of kidney problems in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a disease that affects the immune system and can lead to serious health issues. Chlordecone has been found in the environment in Martinique and has been associated with various health risks. Researchers want to see if patients with lupus who have been exposed to this pesticide have a higher chance of developing kidney damage, which is a common and serious complication of SLE.
To participate in the trial, individuals must have been diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus and have been under treatment at the internal medicine department of the Martinique University Hospital for at least three years. They also need to have lived in Martinique or Guadeloupe for at least a year and give their consent to take part in the study. Participants will undergo tests to confirm their kidney health and may have their exposure to chlordecone assessed. This research aims to better understand the impact of environmental factors on lupus and improve patient care.
