ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new approach to help people who experience visible abdominal distension, which is when the stomach becomes noticeably swollen after meals. The researchers want to see if a simple biofeedback technique, which teaches patients how to control their abdominal muscles, can effectively reduce this discomfort. In the trial, participants will be randomly assigned to either receive the biofeedback training or a placebo (which is an inactive treatment) for four weeks.
To be eligible for this trial, participants should be between the ages of 18 and 75 and must have episodes of visible abdominal swelling that happen after eating. However, they need to have no underlying medical conditions that could explain their symptoms, such as constipation or other health issues identified by their doctor. During the study, participants will attend three training sessions and practice the techniques at home before meals. This trial aims to see if this easy-to-follow method can help improve the quality of life for those dealing with embarrassing and uncomfortable bloating.
