ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how certain biological markers in the fluid and tissues around the thumb joint can help us understand osteoarthritis in that area. Specifically, researchers are studying how the breakdown of important proteins in the joint relates to the overall health and metabolism of patients. They also want to compare these findings with knee osteoarthritis and see how they relate to symptoms like pain, strength, and range of motion in the thumb.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 25 years old and have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the base of your thumb, which is confirmed by medical imaging and causing you symptoms. If you have had previous surgery on that joint, have certain other types of arthritis, or are currently dealing with an infection, you may not be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to provide samples from your thumb joint and answer questions about how your condition affects your daily life. This research aims to improve our understanding of thumb osteoarthritis and potentially lead to better treatments in the future.
