ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to diagnose injuries to the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL), which is a key ligament in the ankle, using ultrasound technology. Unlike traditional imaging methods like MRI, ultrasound is more affordable and easier to access. The researchers have developed a special computer program called a deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) that can help identify and classify these injuries accurately. They want to see how well this program works in real-life situations in a medical setting.
To take part in the trial, participants need to be over 18 years old and have experienced an acute ankle sprain. However, those with previous ankle surgery, certain medical conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, or tumors in the ankle are not eligible. If someone qualifies and joins the study, they can expect to undergo an ultrasound examination to help assess their ankle injury. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to improve the way ankle injuries are diagnosed, making it faster and more efficient for patients.
