ClinConnect Summary
The clinical trial titled "The Basel Lymphedema Protocol" is focused on finding the best surgical approaches to treat chronic lymphedema, a condition that can occur after breast cancer surgery. The goal is to create a clear plan, or algorithm, that doctors can use to help patients who have experienced this swelling for more than three months. Researchers will look back at the experiences of patients who had surgery for breast cancer or other cancers and who have undergone different types of surgeries specifically designed to treat lymphedema.
To be a part of this study, candidates must have had breast cancer surgery (or surgery for another type of cancer) and currently have chronic lymphedema. Eligible participants may have had one or more specific surgical treatments like lymph node-venous connections or specialized liposuction to address their lymphedema. If you choose to participate, you can expect to help researchers understand how these surgeries work and potentially benefit others facing similar challenges. The trial is currently recruiting participants of all ages and genders.
