ClinConnect Summary
The clinical trial titled "Stand Up 2 HPV" is studying ways to improve the rates of HPV vaccination among adolescents aged 9-17. Each year, HPV, or human papillomavirus, can lead to cancers affecting both men and women, yet many young people are not receiving the vaccine that can prevent these cancers. This study aims to test a method called "standing orders," which allows trained healthcare staff to give the HPV vaccine without needing a specific request from a doctor, along with a special training program for nurses and staff on how to communicate about the vaccine effectively. By comparing this method with just the training program alone, researchers hope to see which approach is more successful in increasing vaccination rates.
To participate in this trial, you must be an active patient at one of the healthcare practices involved. However, practices that already have high vaccination rates or very few eligible young patients will not be included. If eligible, participants can expect to receive the HPV vaccine as part of their routine care and may help contribute to important research that could enhance vaccination efforts in the future. This trial is currently recruiting participants and is taking place in a variety of healthcare settings across Western New York, which helps ensure a diverse group of practices and patients are involved.
