ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how much radiation patients are exposed to during five common medical procedures that use x-rays, known as fluoroscopy. These procedures include placing or replacing a ureteral stent, removing kidney stones through the skin (known as percutaneous nephrolithotomy), using a flexible scope to look at the ureters, and using shock waves to break up kidney stones. The goal is to see if changing the speed of the x-ray images (measured in frames per second) can reduce the amount of radiation patients receive while still ensuring the procedures are safe and effective.
To participate in this study, patients must be undergoing one of the listed procedures under the guidance of experienced doctors. Eligible participants are typically adults aged 65 and older who do not have certain conditions, like having procedures done on both sides of the body at the same time or having specific types of urinary tract issues. For those who join, they can expect to have their radiation exposure carefully measured during their procedure, which aims to help improve safety standards for future patients.
