ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well dexmedetomidine, a medication that helps with pain relief, works when given in two different ways during kidney surgeries. Researchers want to find out if giving it locally (right where the pain is) or systemically (through the bloodstream) alongside another pain medication called bupivacaine will provide better pain relief for patients undergoing kidney exploration surgeries.
To participate in this trial, individuals should be between 18 and 80 years old and be scheduled for kidney surgery. They should also be in good health, with a body mass index (BMI) under 35, and not have any serious health issues. However, those who are pregnant, have a history of drug or alcohol problems, or are receiving strong pain medications before the surgery won't be eligible. Participants in the study can expect to receive either local or systemic dexmedetomidine and will be monitored for their pain relief during and after the surgery. This trial is currently looking for volunteers to help researchers understand the best way to manage pain in these types of surgeries.
