ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how the presence of a "double hump" in people with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) may relate to the severity of diabetes-related complications. The researchers believe that those with a double hump, which is a noticeable fat distribution at the back of the neck and upper back, may experience more serious health issues compared to those without this condition. Participants will be recruited from an endocrine outpatient department and will undergo various physical examinations and assessments to identify complications affecting their eyes, nerves, and kidneys, as well as heart-related problems.
To be eligible for this trial, participants should be between 20 and 70 years old, have Type 2 diabetes for up to 30 years, and have a body mass index (BMI) between 25 and 40. The study aims to better understand the link between body shape and health complications in diabetes, and it is open to both men and women. Participants can expect to have their health assessed through physical exams and tests that check for any diabetes-related issues. It’s important to note that individuals with certain health conditions, such as severe alcohol use or heart disease, will not be eligible to take part in this study.
