ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating whether taking probiotics can help improve the health and quality of life of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), specifically those with ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease. Probiotics are beneficial bacteria found in some foods and supplements that may support gut health. In this study, eligible patients will be divided into two groups: one group will receive a probiotic supplement for two months, while the other group will not receive probiotics. Researchers will track changes in the patients' health, nutrition, and overall well-being through surveys and body measurements during the study.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be Lebanese outpatients who have been diagnosed with either Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis for at least six months and have stable, inactive disease. They should not have used any probiotics in the two months before the study. Pregnant or breastfeeding women and those currently taking probiotics are not eligible to participate. This trial aims to provide valuable information about the potential benefits of probiotics in managing IBD, which could help improve patients' overall health and quality of life.
