ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how well two tests, called Xpert MTB/RIF and XDR Assay, can diagnose pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) and identify drug-resistant forms of the disease. TB is a serious infection that mainly affects the lungs, and knowing if a patient has it and whether it is resistant to treatment is crucial for effective care. The study aims to evaluate the accuracy of these tests in helping doctors diagnose TB more effectively.
To participate in this trial, patients need to be between the ages of 6 and 74 and should have symptoms that suggest they might have pulmonary TB, like a persistent cough or difficulty breathing. They must also be able to provide a sputum sample (a sample of mucus from the lungs). However, patients who cannot provide a sample or have certain other types of TB that don’t affect the lungs will not be eligible. If you or a loved one is interested in participating, you can expect to undergo these specific tests to help improve TB diagnosis for future patients.
