ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how sugar levels in the bloodstream relate to sugar levels in the brain for patients with severe acute brain injury. When patients are admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) for serious brain injuries, doctors often use special equipment to monitor various brain functions, including sugar levels. This study aims to better understand how the body’s overall sugar levels affect the sugar levels in the brain, which is important for managing care and recovery.
To participate in this trial, you must be at least 18 years old and have been admitted to the neuro-ICU at Rigshospitalet with multimodal neuromonitoring in place. Unfortunately, if your closest family member cannot read or understand Danish or English, or if you have a known history of diabetes, you will not be eligible to join. If you qualify, you can expect to undergo some additional monitoring, which will help researchers develop a mathematical model to predict how the brain uses sugar. This information could lead to better treatment approaches for patients with acute brain injuries in the future.
