ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how a probiotic called GI BIOTICS 100B UFC can help improve gut health in older men. The study will last for 8 weeks and will involve 44 sedentary men aged 60 to 75 years who have a body mass index (BMI) over 25, which means they are considered overweight. Participants will be randomly assigned to either take the probiotic daily or a placebo (a capsule that doesn’t contain the active ingredient) to compare the effects. Researchers will check their gut health by analyzing blood and stool samples and measuring muscle strength through a simple handgrip test.
To be eligible, participants need to be men in the specified age range, overweight, and not regularly exercising. They should also have some digestive issues, like bloating or heartburn. However, those with diabetes, high blood pressure, or certain food intolerances cannot participate. This trial is not yet recruiting, so there is still time for potential participants to learn more and consider joining once it starts.
