ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how blood flows to the eyes in patients who have a narrowing of the carotid artery, which can affect blood supply to the brain. Researchers want to see how this blood flow changes before and after certain procedures called carotid endarterectomy or carotid artery stenting, which are done to improve blood flow. They will also compare the eye blood flow of these patients with healthy individuals of similar age and gender. Additionally, the study will measure oxygen levels in the brain during these procedures to understand more about how carotid artery stenosis affects overall health.
To participate in this trial, you must be at least 18 years old and have been diagnosed with unilateral carotid artery stenosis, meaning only one side of your carotid artery is narrowed. You will also need to have normal eye health, unless any issues are considered minor. Healthy individuals who wish to participate must also be 18 or older, have normal eye health, and be non-smokers. Throughout the study, participants can expect to undergo various tests related to eye and brain health. If you have certain medical conditions or have recently experienced other health issues, you may not be eligible to join.
