ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how a technique called dry needling affects the muscles in the shoulder, particularly the rotator cuff muscles, which are important for shoulder movement and stability. The study aims to understand how dry needling changes muscle strength, muscle thickness, and electrical activity in the muscles, both in people who have shoulder pain and those who do not. Participants will also be asked about their pain levels, fear of movement, and expectations regarding the dry needling treatment.
To participate, individuals must be at least 18 years old and either have shoulder pain that has lasted more than three months or no shoulder pain at all. They should be able to raise their arm to a certain angle and move their shoulder in specific ways. However, those with neck pain, a history of shoulder trauma, fibromyalgia, pregnancy, or a fear of needles will not be eligible. Participants can expect to have their muscle activity and pain levels measured before and after the dry needling treatment to see how effective it is in relieving shoulder pain and improving muscle function.
