ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to help children feel less anxious before surgery. It focuses on using augmented reality (AR), a type of technology that creates a 3D experience on phones or tablets. In this trial, children aged 7 to 12 who are having surgery for the first time will be asked to read a storybook called "One Child, One Miracle." Some children will read the book using an AR app that makes the story come to life, while others will read the same book without the app. The goal is to see if the AR experience can reduce their fear and anxiety about the surgery.
To be eligible for the trial, children must be between 7 and 12 years old, have no communication issues, and both parents must agree to participate. Children with chronic or genetic diseases or those who have had surgery before will not be included. Participants can expect to fill out surveys about their feelings before and after reading the book to measure any changes in their anxiety and fear levels. This study aims to find out if using technology like AR can make the preoperative experience more comfortable for children.
